Weekends are special because this is a time when John and I get to spend all our time together.
We try to plan something fun, if the weather allows an outing or two. Sometimes it’s been too hot for me and we’ve had to carefully choose what we can do or not do. However, there are some things we almost always do with our weekends.
First is food shopping.
John likes his local IGA supermarkets. It’s not a name foreign to me, we have IGAs too. I think John could be in and out of here in 5 minutes flat for what he buys. With me along, we take considerably longer.
When we go to the IGA, we always pass this kiddie ride. How I long to give Silas and Rubà a ride on the Big Red Car.
In the mornings, the markets is a good place to buy fruits, nuts, and vegetables, as I have found it cheaper than the supermarket.
Malaga markets is close, but we sometimes venture to others, like when they ran out of prawns this past weekend!
You can find almost anything at the markets…Jewelry, karaoke, tee shirts, hippy clothes, risqué clothes, rugs, flowers, ice cream…
…ground coffees, pets (no more kittens however), candy, children’s toys, and on and on it goes.
You can even get a bite to eat. John has treated me to coffee and brunch a few times.
I just enjoy anything we do together, even the regular errands and chores.
The main reason we come here of course is the produce.
The house seems always to need work done, so a familiar place on the weekend is the hardware store.
The big one here is Bunnings. reminds me of our Home Depot in Maryland.
Sundays are for church, and I do believe we found a very sweet place to go. The pastor is American and the songs are familiar, the messages are truth, it’s like a slice of home every time we go.
