“For a while” is a phrase whose length can’t be measured. At least by the person who’s waiting.”
~ Haruki Murakami, South of the Border, West of the Sun
If saying good-bye to my husband, being injured and worried, and a long trip ahead of me wasn’t tragic enough, I had a 15 hour wait for my flight out of New Zealand. I think it’s pretty bad when you arrive before sunrise and leave way past sundown, but that seems to be how it goes in New Zealand.
After going through security, checking in with family on the internet, and exchanging money so I could buy a coffee, I notice the sun rises over Auckland’s airport.
More of the sunrise out the window.
Then the fog rolled in.
Some flights were delayed, and I sure hoped that the fog didn’t affect mine, which was still hours and hours to go.
Some New Zealand money.
Sunset was a signal that soon I would be able to go.
Even though it may look like it by the photograph, I didn’t watch the clock all day.
If ever there were a a people more “relaxed” than Australians, it must be New Zealand people. Finally, an announcement showing that my flight had an actual gate to go to.
It’s kinda neat after watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy to be in New Zealand.
Sunset through the window. Will board the plane for San Francisco, soon.
