Toilet Paper Restrictions in Catalunya
It seems odd to me, that a nation, or part of a nation I found near obsessed with body functions will now, in an effort to fix its financial crisis, limit school children how much toilet paper they can use.
I mean, we all know that governments spend too much, are accountable for way too little, and they actually think for one moment that punishing the most innocent, the children, limiting their toilet paper use will fix their spending/debt problem?
The northeastern region has been ordered to rein in its deficit and has embarked on a series of stringent austerity cuts.
The latest edict issued by the region’s ministry of education instructs state schools to cut “excessive consumption†of toilet roll among pupils and limit the quota to a maximum of 25 metres per child per month.
This most recent penny saving measure comes amid widespread cuts to education budgets across Spain that has led to regular protests in the streets by teachers.
Doctors in debt laden Catalonia have also been called out on strike in recent weeks angry at health budget cuts that have left public hospitals over stretched.
Spain’s autonomous regions have been forced by the central government to reduce their spending to help meet the nation’s budget deficit reduction target.
And one of the first things they could think of was limiting toilet paper?? If there are questions as to what Spain’s problems might be and how they got there, look no further.
ah yes i can see how that works 0.8 of a metre per day, that’s 80 squares
the constipated kids will make a killing selling their spares squares on the school toilet paper black market 🙂
and i guess schools will need to employ some one to measure the papers and keep track of who has used how much, so adding to the employment stats too
a double bonus
