To Albany and BEYOND!

After our hot, long, tiring day at the Porongurups, you would think that would be it, but we planned to drive south to Albany so I could see the Southern Ocean, and off we went!

We made a stop on our way down from the mountains at the Porongurups Tearoom. I couldn't help but think of Paul at Severn Gas Pumps and take this photo for him.

The tearoom.

Loved this bench outside the tearoom.

We then went beyond past Albany to the coast.

Just pristine and turquiose blue waters.

We hopped around a few of the beaches.

Since I had been wounded by a fall in the mountains I took advantage of the salt water to wash off my scraped knee.

Each beach was more dazzling than the last.

We had a windy day.

Then we reached a place which contained The Gap and Natural Bridge.

The Gap is an impressive rugged granite channel carved by the waves of the Great Southern Ocean crashing against the granite coastline forming a spectacular sheer drop of almost twenty five metres.

The Gap

The area was so lush.

Natural Bridge

The Natural Bridge is a granite formation caused by the gradual wearing away of the rock by the Great Southern Ocean.

The natural bridge formation is a reminder of the power of the ocean. Over time, the ocean has carved a bridge into the rock face. It is clear to see exactly how as the waves came rolling across the sea and into the hole it has created.

After a stop into Albany, which was a very busy place, we traveled back to Mt. Barker with a lovely sunset.

More sunset.

From the Mount Barker lookout.

All the crazy places we took John's car, took it's toll on it...But left a cute way to tell others we were JUST MARRIED.
