The Graduate: Finally!
After months of preparation, the night of the graduation ceremony finally came. Not without a few tears, that’s for sure.
The whole day seemed a mad rush, but as the evening approached it all seemed to come together. Miquel had his favorite dish, “Fideus a la Casola” and as I was running late, felt like I was in the Indy 500 trying to make it to the church by the designated 5:00. (It was 19 miles away and during rush hour!)
The ceremony was beautiful. It had a slide show of each graduate, and each senior who wanted to say something did, including Miquel, who gave a thanks to his family and dear Ms Deleah who helped us so much through the years. Randy’s message was brilliant, incorporating the class chosen verses from Isaiah 40:29-31 and bringing it to modern day and giving the graduates a lot to think about.
Each graduate could invite their pastor or youth pastor, and we were happy Pastor Caleb could come for Miquel. Each leader said a prayer for the graduates.
After a laugh on how Randy pronounced Miquel’s name, Miquel finally receives his diploma!
It was a time of fellowship with new friends and getting to see old ones.
 Miquel, and new friend, Ryan.
I think Miquel was happy Anna was able to come. 🙂
Well Miquel….we did it…. But don’t think this graduation means you no longer need your mama.
I am here for you son, always. It’s like the song in your recessional said, “I’ll have tears as you take off, but I’ll cheer you as you fly.”
“Find your Wings” by Mark Harris and Tony Wood.
It’s only for a moment you are mine to hold
The plans that heaven has for you
Will all too soon unfold
So many different prayers I’ll pray
For all that you might do
But most of all I’ll want to know
You’re walking in the truth
And If I never told you
I want you to know
As I watch you grow
Chorus:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things
I’m here for you whatever this life brings
So let my love give you roots
And help you find your wings
May passion be the wind
That leads you through your days
And may conviction keep you strong
Guide you on your way
May there be many moments
That make your life so sweet
Oh, but more than memories
Chorus:
It’s not living if you don’t reach for the sky
I’ll have tears as you take off
But I’ll cheer as you fly
Congratulations to you Mama!
