Some Different Things in Australia

Naturally as you go somewhere different you feel familiar with the similar things you see, but often what is different can be curious and exciting.

In our short visit there, we saw a few curious and different things…

As you go down the road, beware of Bobtail Lizards, they were out in some number.

One night we did “Take Away” (we say carry out), and Jamie brought his own Chicken salt. Well, being open to try things, we quickly tried it on our chips (French Fries). It was yum! We immediately thought Miquel would like it and brought some home!

What sounds we often heard day and night were what John referred to as crows, but are really Australian Ravens. Now they don’t “caw” as our crows and they have a rather annoying call, but to the point of making you giggle.  Sound File HERE

As soon as I landed at Melbourne Airport, I learned Australians have options when they flush with their toilets. A whole or a half flush. Well, it  just makes sense!

When you plug something in…

…it doesn’t function until you flip a switch to on. Which seems to me a safety feature, so I also liked this!

We aware that in your travels, you can encounter the random emu strolling around.

    It’s interesting what captures our attention when we travel isn’t it?

    Some of those things seem so ‘normal’ to us yet are obviously different to what you’re used to. I’ve found the same things when travelling. It’s often the ordinary that seems so extraordinary.
