Seedtime and Harvest
– While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
~ Genesis 8:22
It’s really one of my favorite times of year. When I got to church today, I appreciated the image on the bulletin:
I looked at the verse at the bottom. I saw “Shall not cease” ‘Now wait a minute,” I thought, “I was always taught it WOULD cease.’
I even ran to Revelation where the prophecy was of a NEW earth…
– And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
~ Revelation 21:1
Then I realized the key words were “While the earth remaineth” So I hadn’t misunderstood, this was a promise as long as the earth existed.
The earth as we know it, according to the Bible, will not forever be in existence. Revelation is clear there is to be a new heaven and earth.
Does that mean we should trash this one? No! There are definite Biblical scriptures that make it clear we are to be good stewards of what God made, his creation.
Often times what happens though, and it hurts to see it, that many times people worship the creation, and don’t care to take note of and definitely not worship its creator.
I did really like the image and the verse on today’s bulletin.
If you are in an area that enjoys as we do, the changes of the leaves and such, in the Eastern US, enjoy!
And remember thy creator!
