As I write this, I just heard on the news that this spring has recorded the most rainiest weekends ever in Perth.
With John only off work on the weekends, and our time limited to be together, we just can’t stress over it, we have to make plans and contingency plans as well. Which is OK, I am from Maryland, this is what we do. 🙂
Well if the rain didn’t dampen our demeanor, the swarm of mosquitoes at our first stop sure gave it a good try.
With the rain and mosquitoes, we decided to change course, we turned and headed north. It didn’t really look a lot better.
Can’t complain about the scenery though. 🙂
We didn’t appreciate this sign though. No chance of fire today.
Loved the wheat fields.
It occurred to me that even though I like wheat products, I’ve never really been up close to wheat. We stopped the car to take some photos.
And a movie…
I was entranced by the wheat fields in the wind.
John took photos too of course.
One of my favorite photos of the day. This happy orange grevillea by the wheat field.
Down the road a bit, we saw lovely pink flowers on the side of the road.
We enjoyed a few birds this outing. This one on the road is a yellow-throated miner (Manorina flavigula).
Corellas…
..and galahs that seemed to be floating on top of the canola having a snack.
They were either patient with me or enjoying a brief respite from the rain for something to eat….
…but soon enough, they flew away.
And this is me practicing the fine art of taking a photo of a moving bird of prey, a kestral, while in a moving vehicle.
A typical road scene, windmill and pipeline with old telephone poles and fields.
On a straight part, we can see the rains again, ahead.
Don’t know what this cute little building was for, but we saw it as we made a turn into the…
Rabbit proof fence road, or as Laura would call it, the Bunny proof fence road.
It was an interesting road.
It had pretty flowers on it.
This is often a scene we see while in the country, old sheds.
Oh now doesn’t this sum up our day?
Love it when the camera can capture two flowers at once.
Hakea were all over too.
Another common site these days, rays from the dark clouds.
Finally we are on our way home. Wet drops on the truck and looming clouds on the horizon.
