Postcard Collection
It was truly tempting to call this “Postcards from the Edge” after the week I just had, but, I resisted.
As I mentioned in another blog, Tuesday I had 12-13 hours of straight driving, with one small break for lunch.
On the way home, I was feeling fatigued and thought to get a candy bar to give me a chocolate ‘lift’.
So, I stopped in one of the nice rest stations along the Pennsylvania Turnpike, and saw one of my favorites, a Three Musketeers Bar. Wouldn’t you know, they had as well, the most precious set of Postcards by the cashier. I picked some up.
Now, I have been laughed at, teased, and picked on for my post card collection by all of my family.
It seems I can’t resist to buy them. So I made my purchases, went back to the car and told Laura I found some candy, proceded to eat it, and from her drowsy state she said without any emotion or even looking, “You bought some postcards, didn’t you?”
“Yes,” I confessed.
I decided this time I had a defense. “All this driving and seeing all the beauty without stopping to take photos has me frustrated!”
Â
She seemed to let me go on that excuse.
Anyway, today as I put my new Pennsylvania postcards with the rest of my collection -counted 589 (in a big tub I keep in my closet) I thought to see how much of each I had. Most of these are places I have been and enjoyed, but others were sent to me. This is not a complete list, I still have to file some away, but here it goes:

It occurs to me that I need some from Wisconsin! (hint, hint)

Glad to see Illinois and Indiana represented. But what happened to North Carolina?? 🙂
Hi Barb,
I would say that you chose wisely in selecting what to collect. Postcards are reasonably priced and take up very little space. On the other hand, our house is filled to bursting with stuff various ancestors have collected over the years. It’s so full that my comic book collection has been relegated to off site storage.
If you desire additions from Memphis and New Orleans, email me an address and I’ll set some on their slow path to your door. It may even be possible to get the Brit to send you some from London.

Lee.
You are right, I definately need representation from the Carolinas. In fact, having been there, I can’t believe I don’t have any.
When I was there, I did take some of my own photos so that could be one explanation.
One thing I just remembered. My son gave me a post card from “The Wilds” a very nice camp nestled in North Carolina, so I guess I do have one from NC!

I only skimmed through the edge of Tennessee once, long ago, and never came close to New Orleans. Cards from there would be great- as well as a visit one day!
Hi Barb,
Visitors are always welcome, with a bit of notice. Of course, if you want the full treatment you have to come for Christmas. Postcards will go out most swiftly once you send me an address. Unless, that is, you’ve gained enough status to allow me to simply write “Xerraire” on it and still have it delivered 🙂
