Perth Royal Show: The Rides

Like any state fair, or any carnival, or any trip to Ocean City, the Perth Royal Show had rides. They label this section of the show, “Sideshow Alley.”

Now it’s well known that I don’t DO rides, I get dizzy, nauseous, and am basically no fun at all at an amusement park. This place was no different, in fact, perhaps it was worse. I noticed that all the rides were closer together than ours, and that speeding, imposing pieces of metal with screaming people on it came out right above your head. This was not inviting at all.

It only makes sense to me that rides in AUSTRALIA would have kangaroos for the children. 🙂

Some rides were very beautiful.

Kind of lost its appeal when it started to move. :)  I’m such a big chicken.  Other people seemed to be trying to show me how simple it was.

Here’s one about my speed, a little bumble bee one.

I believe this one was a ride that takes you every which way, and we were very interested to see if a fellow who stepped on with just flip flops on his feet managed to keep them on. 🙂 However between how fast that went and me having ADD with all that was going on around me, I never found out.

Start them young with Star Wars. A ride with a Star Wars theme had this character in front, and this child didn’t want to LEAVE at all!

The Star Wars ride, not tempting at all to me 🙂

You got to have bumper cars!

This one takes me back to Ocean City.

Now if you were to get me on any rides, and $10 a ride didn’t sound like a robbery, this would be the ride I’d get on. It’s quite fun. I was happy how my camera handled this one, I got one couple in focus and followed them at top speed. I got the blur I wanted but the subject still in focus.

I suppose a roller coast is obligatory as well 🙂

The Ferris wheel against a sky that wanted to rain.

John spotted a bird hitching a ride on the Ferris wheel. Didn’t look like he was leaving any time soon.

A haunted house ride.

Kinda of a magic time when the sun goes down and the rides light up.

That was just some of the rides. They actually had Camel rides and I wanted to do them, but felt awkward when I only saw children riding them. I guess there was just a part of me that wanted to say, I’ve ridden a camel. I don’t feel compelled to ride one, just something to tell the grand-kids I guess 🙂

So we got a video camera, and John had a practice with it filming the rides…
