Perth Royal Show: Let Them Eat Cake

Or not eat cake, because most of these were too beautiful to consider eating!

Like our state and county fairs, the Perth Royal Show has a food competition. Some of them are:

  • Patty Cakes
  • Biscuits
  • Slices
  • Cakes
  • Muffins
  • Macarons
  • Preserves
  • Jams
  • Pesto
  • Chocolates
  • Decorated Cakes

The Jams and Preserves Small Business Section provides an avenue for companies to have their quality produce recognised and acknowledged. Award winning products receive prize money and medal templates for their products, as well as being presented with a certificate from The Royal Agricultural Society of WA.

I love cake, and since two of my sisters decorate cakes, (and one really likes to EAT them) I wanted to see what they had. I was really impressed.

A cake for dairy lovers.

An Alice in Wonderland cake.

A Dr. Seuss cake

A cute cake for children, Noah’s Ark.

Who can’t resist a wedding cake? This is not my favorite color combination for a wedding, but I have to admit, it was very well done.

This one had to be hard. I thought my Laura would like to see this pagoda cake. I thought I would share John’s photo, he got the best angle.

These were not easy to photograph by the way, they were each behind glass, which makes sense, to preserve them longer.

Another wedding cake I thought Laura might like.

A CLASSIC white wedding cake.

Same cake as above, John got a close up on all the ways to say I love you.  Great idea.

Another red wedding cake. 🙂

Yet another more traditional kind of wedding cake.

A tier cake that looks as if it had been embroidered. How unique.

Why not lovely peacocks? Exquisite decorating!

Now this photo proves I can be a lazy photographer. Instead of switching lenses to get a wider view of this, I stuck with my long lens. Just the same, this is CAKE. Milk being poured onto cocoa puffs. Cake for breakfast anyone?

How about a kitty and tulip cake? I don’t know how anyone could take a knife to any of these and eat them.

They didn’t just have decorated cakes…

As much as fruit cakes around Christmas seems to be the object of many jokes back home, here, they seem to be very popular.

This one grabbed my attention, it was so colorful and well named, the stained glass window fruit cake.

Needless to say, after a visit through these, we had to get something to eat.
Fresh doughnuts and cream filled waffles did the trick!

    […] I can’t decide, but I think last year’s cakes were better. […]
