Long been on our list to go, we finally had an opportunity to visit Peel Zoo.
We actually had other plans but that didn’t work out. We went to Mandurah for a bite to eat at the foreshore, and we finalized a plan B. We were in the area, so we went to Peel Zoo, a little rather hands on zoo experience.
I had already seen photos that John had taken on a previous visit there, and I knew there would be a lot of birds. I am always ready to see and learn more about birds.
In fact, it was a lovely day and I thought it was the perfect way to start out a Valentines weekend. (No sense limiting Valentines to just one day. Right?)
On a side note, while we were there we learned that Peel Zoo has a breeding program for Tasmanian Devils. They have a very successful program. You can learn about it HERE.
One of the first creatures to see was an Alpaca.
With the Alpaca was a Red Deer.
I don’t know what exactly happened to the deer, after getting into some water, it bucked and danced around. It acted like it was being pestered by a bug.
A photo of a black alpaca shows that the day turned hot and dusty.
I never get tired of seeing these sweet animals.
A group of kangaroos is even better!
One of the many Tasmanian Devils they have.
Then we came to a place where you could go in with the birds, I told John, “We are never leaving this place!”
The birds were unafraid and very friendly…
…because you were allowed to feed them!
So many kinds and colors, it was like walking into a rainbow.
This one liked John very much, and his camera bag strap.
One flew on my head. I tried to get selfie, but failed. Fortunately, John got a shot with his camera.
Peek – a – Boo-book Owl 🙂
Male King Parrot
Loved this one’s expressions.
Soon it was time to go, but not before John got this this Sulfur Crescent Cockatoo to dance. Just precious.
