No More Carpet
If it wasn’t enough that I had to move 25+ years of living into one room from a three floor house, often something that took my spirits down was to look at the aging and damaged carpet on my bedroom floor.
Now, there are a group of fellows that spend a lot of time in our home visiting my son, and more often than not, they aren’t doing much of anything.
So, I got this idea. Ripping up the carpet is a lot of work for one lady, but a group of guys could make it easier and faster!
So I put them right to work. They were awesome and the floor looks great!
Thanks to Miquel and his friends, Mike, Ross, and Andrew, what a tremendous job!
First I prepared a favorite brunch, tortilla de patatas, then Mike and I started the project with Herb Alpert music. He said he actually found “Zorba the Greek” kinda motivating, but later Miquel soon added his songs to the playlist, and the work went into full swing. With little more than an end of a small hammer’s prying end, and my dad’s box cutter and a lot of elbow grease and muscle, the job was done in less than a day.
Now I can slide across the room in my socks.
🙂
Wow! What a beautiful floor! What a shame that it was covered with carpet.
Hi Barb,
My wife and I did that when we moved to the farm. It was a real mess. The worst part was moving all the heavy antique furniture. It still makes my back hurt to think about it.

Pictures please ( of you sliding). 😉 I can see how this would bring a bit of cheer. We are going to pull our bedroom carpet but unfortunately no lovely wood underneath.
