Mom

Juanita (Fletcher) Bosley

Juanita (Fletcher) Bosley

We lost our mom today.

There is a lot I could say about her death. I won’t. I’d like to concentrate and celebrate her life on earth.

There is a lot to say about a woman who loved others with every fiber of her being. She didn’t talk about love, she demonstrated it, in the most unselfish of ways. She cared for, she gave it unconditionally, she put herself last and others first.

From a little girl, she told me the Old Old Story, of God and His love. Love was what she was about. Anyone who came into our house, sat at her kitchen table, ate her food, instantly could feel welcomed, at home, and be in love’s presence. If she never mentioned the God she loved, she was a testimony that she was a child of God.

It would be an honor for me if you would watch a slide show that I’ve put together, to share this love of our Mother and her life. Photos say a lot but not everything. What can’t be said here, I hope will be proven in the lives she touched, in the children she taught, the grandchildren and great grandchildren, that we can give to you a little something of Mom’s love for everyone.

Love, Hope, and Charity, will be her legacy.

I only got to see her once in my life, yet she caused me a great impression, so silent, so resolute, so sharply inteligent. Not much I know, but for the rest I got enough looking at the kind of persons she gave life to. Compassive, tender, loving. Yes, now she’s not gone, the contrary: Now she lives in you all.

what a beautiful tribute to a amazing woman. The pictures not only brought back many memories but I felt like I was back there enjoying those Sunday get togethers. Climbing the poles in grandmas kitchen(and threatened with the belt) I remember watching the love between your parents and how they shared that love with everyone. I grew up wishing to be part of that unbelievable family and many times your Mom brought me into that circle. She was a classy lady always. I mourn for the emptiness that I know you feel but look around and you will see her everywhere. Hold on to those moments and always tell her wonderful story to those grandchildren for they are her legacy. Our families prayers are with you. God’s blessing on each and everyone of you.

I remember her at the garden party your whole family hosted for the 101st Tour in the newly repurposed backyard. She was such a strong woman. Very intelligent, out spoken, & frank in her opinions. She was an incredible survivor. As I looked around at your whole family who had driven us around to the very sites where our loved ones who had been fighting, wounded or killed in Holland, I was filled with enormous gratitude at how loving & generously they gave of their time, energy, & money to help American families. Meeting her family was a turning moment in my life. If one judges a life well spent, the walking, living proof in her children & grandchildren shines a light for us all. Building a bridge between countries & connecting generations 70 years later leaves an enormous legacy. She’s in God’s hands now.

When Tom Brokaw coined the phrase “the greatest generation” I believe he was talking about people like Juanita and Julian. They were not “great” in being famous or being in the forefront but “great” in the honest lives they lived and the people that they welcomed into their lives. There was no pretense in Juanita’s DNA. She spoke truly and sincerely.
Imagine having foreign students living in your home. How well I remember Petra from the Netherlands and Flavio from Brazil. Great people to know. And then the others, Japan, Iran and I don’t know where else they came from. It was like the United Nations at their house.
Nita was a true sister to me. We had some wonderful times and I cannot believe that I will neaver talk with her on the phone again.
I am proud that I married into her family and proud to know all of her children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren. What a gal!
    Good-bye Juanita, I love you.

Barb. You did an amazing job on this. Juanita was a truly happy woman and shined. She allowed God to use her as a living testimony. God Bless you and your family.
