Medieval Fayre in Perth

Fayre-that’s the way they spelled it.

Yesterday, we went to a Medieval Fayre in Perth’s Supreme Court Gardens. We went and were prepared that it would be nothing like Maryland’s Ren Fest, but it was fun just the same.

We arrived to Perth and after some shopping in Gloss for Laura, looked on this relatively new sculpture in Perth. One million dollars worth. What do you think? Art or a waste of Taxpayers money?

There were a few groups represented at the fayre that did sword fighting.

Perth Morris Men. A morris dance is a form of English folk dance usually accompanied by music.

There was a life sized chess game.

Of course instead of a rocking horse there was a rocking kangaroo!

There were craftsmen.

Back to the Morris dancers, I am positive they are men that are very secure in their masculinity.

Well, believe it or not, at this point we got to see some familiar faces.

This one is familiar too, Oska, loaded with personality.

These birds were the same ones from the bird show that I blogged about the last time I was in Perth.

It’s Yvonne with a Wedged Tailed Eagle, Micro,  BOTH familiar faces!

More swordsmen.

Some learned the agony of defeat.

There was a court jester…

and a pirate…

Even the dogs get dressed up.

We figured some of the modern things, like sunglasses, took away from the costumes. But in Australia bright sun, necessary.

The fighting help most of the excitement for the day.

They even had a Punch and Judy show.

John captures me taking a rest in the shade. I like that my stamp for the fayre entry shows up in the photo.
