So Valentine’s Day came upon us, our 4th as husband and wife. We went to Perth’s Laser show.
Valentines Day in Perth
Deciding what we were going to do was another thing. We had missed last Valentines together. We couldn’t let this one just go by without some sort of celebration.
We decided to go to Perth as it was also celebrating. The city of Perth was having a grand opening of its waterfront development by hosting a water and laser show over a span of a few weeks. I don’t know what it is with me and lights like fireworks in the dark, but it sure makes me happy and I am so there.
Now this “development” wasn’t without controversy in and outside the family, but the new Elizabeth Quay as it’s called, is here and it’s staying, so we went to see the lights and laser show. Our camera gear in tow, we we were off.
John was happy where he parked and we walked towards the Quay. We passed the water park , also new.
Spanda, a 29-metre-tall (95 ft) abstract sculpture. What a fantastic sky to be the back drop of this art piece!
Art doesn’t come better than God’s handiwork in a sunset, as if I needed a reminder.
The sunset lights up the buildings…
…and around the city. And as if the light show we were about to see and the sunset weren’t enough, we got a bonus with the moon.
So they had laser shows 10 minutes every half-hour each night from 8pm to 10pm
Floating laser and water effects spectacular in the new inlet, with the music choreography celebrating WA’s culture and local talent.
We actually stayed for 4 shows. 🙂 The later the better, the crowd thinned out more each show.
It was a spectacular display of lasers, lights and water fountains.
We moved around a few times to get different views.
This was a side view.
This view really let me get the reflections in the water, I liked that.
I likely don’t have to tell you is that these are but a few of the photos taken tonight.
Oracle Liquid has an international reputation for developing innovative and exciting shows and this one will be unique to Perth.
Not sure it was just for Valentines Day, but there were a few hearts in the show.
Heading back to the car, past the water park, it was also lit up.
Clearly we have a better grip on our cameras than we do on the phone’s selfy mode. A kiss to my husband for a great Valentines.
Gorgeous photos, as per usual. 🙂 I hope you got to see some laser dolphins. I especially liked the effect of the water spray on the laser beams – very sparkly.
Thank you! Actually I think John got the better, artsy photos…
Pauline, we saw a lot! We stayed for 4 shows!
I also took a video to show the grandchildren later. 🙂
