Humble Instead of Arrogant
“Theses six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil, a false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren.” ( Prov. 6:16-19).
If you notice carefully you will see that number one on this list of sins which God hates is the sin of pride – “a proud look”. Why is that? Consider; pride is the sin that turned an archangel into a devil. Pride is the sin that led Israel to reject all the prophets that God sent to warn them of their evil ways.
Sometimes we just think we are ‘all that and a bag of chips.’
We were reminded last Sunday from Pastor Eric that the Bible speaks how God likes us to be humble, weak, and childlike. None of those traits are considered by the world today to be successful, but it’s not the only topic that the Bible and the world today doesn’t seem to agree.
A child is absolutely dependent, and so should we be, on God. God specializes in using people without special skills. Jesus used fishermen, the equivalent of a High School dropout in that day.
Pastor Eric said that God uses the simple to emphasize His majesty.
He also showed a movie that is humbling, I thought I would share it here.
We shouldn’t be arrogant knowing God who created everything.
