Having been to one side of the Golden Valley Tree Park , and then a walk around Balingup , we returned to the Tree Park to have a look at the Australian Tree side. It was getting late, and I was tired and hungry, so we only saw a small portion of what was available to see. An excuse to go back maybe 🙂 Here is a list of the Australian trees they have collected over the years. Click here .
But before I was going to take one step in the Australian forest, I of course was going to use the facilities. This is not uncommon and you are out of the city in Western Australia. Somehow this waterless toilet works. I took a photo as this was the cleanest one I had ever seen. John said it must be new.
But something happened on our way to our walk, I spotted blue fairy wrens in the picnic area. Off I went. They are my favorite bird!
I couldn’t help but notice that their tails seemed much longer than the blue fairy wrens I normally see. Then I saw the hint of red on the wing.
It may not seem like it here, but they are the fastest, most frustrating bird to photograph!
This one was just so sweet looking.
Well this was a special treat that I hadn’t expected to see in our trip to the Golden Valley
But soon enough , it was time to head home, so I took one last look at an American style autumn here in Australia
When we have long outings and drives in the countryside, nothing can beat this time of day and the scenes. I just get out my camera while John drives, I want to remember everything I see.
This time of year we can drive through a lot of smokey haze. Farmers do a lot of burn offs .
You can see little fires all along the farms but it sure does affect visibility for miles.
Some of the views make me not want to leave.
Love this area of Western Australia.
While there we popped in to see some old friends in Gnomesville
A magical time of day, leaving the magical Golden Valley…
