Faith is Required
Faith is Required
Christmas is a wonderful time of year, but I find myself each year, getting off course from all my normal duties. I spend the day after New Years in a heap of fatigue and collapse. I have hardly rested at all when I start to do things to catch up with what I should have been doing the past month or so. One of those duties is finishing up the sermon’s page at my church. I am happy to say I finally got that project done for year 2009.
In December, we had a speaker, Rich Tozour, that we faithfully went to hear each night for the better part of a week. I took notes, as I usually do. Here are some of his wisdom I’d like to share:
The song “One Day” is the gospel in summary.
People need to understand the severity of sin before they can understand their need for Christ.
God doesn’t judge by our standards.
Jesus didn’t come to start a religion, he came to save sinners.
He came not to reform but to transform.
You can fall into sin, but you can’t be happy there.
Labels-often doesn’t align so much with doctrine as it does with personality.
Prayer changes things…because the receiving end of prayer is God.
The world lives as if they are good until they get caught.
God is in charge of fruitful but we are to be faithful. God wants us to pray. When it comes to saving souls, you can’t do God’s work and he can’t do our work. It’s a partnership.
401K isn’t planning for a future. The Bible says life is but a vapor.
Infinite God explaining to finite people, faith is required.
Consider celebrities, they have every pleasure, every monetary gain, and it still does not satisfy.
(The Garden of Eden)
Perfect man.
Perfect woman.
Perfect world.
One no-no.
You would have done the same.God wants to meet you in a father/son relationship.
How to be saved. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
“On” is different that “in.”The cross is simplicity. Easy for us, a huge price for Jesus.
Noah’s day was simple too, get in the ark.
