Eagles Heritage was established in 1987 out of a need to provide homes for permanently disabled birds of prey and owls which had been handed in and cared for by volunteers, but which, due to the nature of their injuries, were unable to make a recovery sufficient for their return to the wild. The park opened its gates to the public for the first time on New Year’s Day in 1998.
Who doesn’t love to see a cute little owl like this? This is Ivy the Barn Owl.
John insisted that I have a turn holding Ivy.
After meeting the owl, they brought out the black tailed kites.
They were amazing to watch fly, catch food in the air, and they didn’t escape.
They flew low and high around us.
Loved seeing how they contort themselves as they swooped down to get the food on the ground.
A little overwhelming to see them all flying around us at once.
Their trainer gave them treats.
Fantastic creature up close.
They can see food and come down to get it with great precision and in a blink of an eye be back up again.
