Driving to Mt. Barker
or, it’s my honeymoon, I’ll scream if I want to.
I was excited to this next part of our trip, as I hadn’t been to Mt. Barker before.
But first we had to get there.

We rode by this same area the last time, but this time it wasn't as green and lush as when we came in springtime.

I really liked Nannup last time, so we made sure to stop in this time. Kathy told me she liked the lemon butter there, so we looked for some, but didn't find any. Not in season. But we were told it was very easy to make.

Apparently in Australia, you can't just order a coffee with cream. They give you a blind stare back. They don't know what you mean.

John had no trouble selecting a mud cake, which was delicious, and there is my cup of dynamite. (I haven't had a 'normal' cup of coffee yet.)

So last time we stopped at a place in the woods called "the Four Aces", John asked me if I wanted to see the same place in summer. We got out to explore and almost immediately I felt something bite me HARD and I looked down to my leg only to see two very large insects on my legs. I screamed. LOUD. John laughed to tell me they were only "March flies', and that they can't hear me screaming. Not amused, I said, "It's my honeymoon, and I'll scream if I want to."

Leaving the area I had been to before, we drove into unknown area to me. We stopped at Lake Muir. So, so far my experience with Australia's lakes are: they are either PINK or DRY.
