We were staying in Spencer, but for our first outing, it was to be the hardest (for some) day of our vacation, we had to drive a little out of the way to get to Letchworth State Park. But since it was a day with a 14 mile run planned, I think my children wanted it to be the first activity of the vacation. (Hardest thing done first).
Spencer, New York, is a village located in the Town of Spencer in Tioga County, New York, United States. The population was 759 at the 2010 census. The village is the location for the first settlement of the town, around 1794. It was called “Drake Settlement,” at first, but the name was changed to “Spencer” when the town was organized and the village assumed the neighboring community of “Milltown.” The village was popularly called “Pumpkin Hook” in the past.
To be continued… we were excited to see Letchworth State Park, also known as the Grand Canyon of the East…
