Since my ankle is still recovering, we decided to make our Saturday outing a long drive. Later we would see we went 1000 kilometers. (621 miles).
We headed north. We were going to do some orchid hunting. Orchids are like that, it’s almost like a mission or quest. They don’t make it easy. Anyway, I was so happy to be out in the country and see the trees I love so much. It’ outings like this day that reminds me that our Creator loves variety.
A stop to look at the dish near New Norcia.
There were really so many flowers around, this one really stood out: Flame Grevillea or Grevillea excelsior
Then, while John was driving, I spotted an orchid! He stopped, backed up. A Sugar orchid. He’s trained me well, from a moving vehicle, I spotted this little thing!
These pink fountain trigger plants were everywhere.
Scarlet Honey-myrtle
A pause to see our new vehicle in the ‘wild’. We’ve already taken it down a few interesting places. John says it has to earn it’s “stripes.” I just want to baby it. Oh well, I suppose we’re using it for the very purpose it was bought.
Walking a bit farther, (using the umbrella Jeff gave John as a walking stick), we spotted another orchid. An Ant Orchid.
I had to get my macro lens out for this one. So glad I did.
Since this was a first for the both of us, we stayed there a while, finding a few more and taking photos.
As we made our way out, John stopped at some rock area and we found a Little Laughing Leek Orchid.
Back on the main road I see a very big bird on a telephone pole. It was a Wedge Tailed Eagle!
It hung around for a little while, but after a few clicks of my camera, it finally flew away. I have to admit, I was very excited to see one.
Back to looking at more trees and Patterson’s curse, the purple flowers in the foreground.
I don’t mind the rain and the clouds, because often what happens, is this…
and this!
The sun is going down on our drive. It’s ok, as we’re headed home.
A must stop and observe the day finishing.
A wonderful, blessed, sweet day with my husband.
