Christmas Presents 2008: Words Spoken from a Mother’s Heart
One of the best presents I got this year came in a little card from my mom.
Even when my daughter Laura read it she said, “Wow, Yaya, it was like it was just written for Mama.”
I suppose growing up, I always baffled my poor mother, and I know she worried a lot about me. There were times I gave her good reason to worry. I don’t think she realized how much she taught me, I kept guarded in my heart.
The card reads:
For my Daughter. Words Spoken from a Mother’s Heart
I should have known…
back when you were a little girl,
always brimming with love and hugs,
that one day you’d become
a loving person
I should have known…
when you were a teenager,
exploring your world
and eager for each new day,
that you would always have
a spirit of adventure.
I should have known…
when when you were a grown woman,
you’d carry with you
all the lessons and values
you’d learned growing up.
How could I have anticipated
all the joy you would
bring to my life?
But then, with a daughter like you,
who always had a way
of filling my heart with love…
I should have known.

Mom also got me a new webcam. The picture is amazingly clear!
Happy New Year my friend.
Such nice words from your daughter.
God bless,
Lance
