Chesapeake Bay Bridge
We took a day to do some shopping for John’s boys, Jeff and Jamie. We went to Annapolis Mall to a shop called Zumiez. We found a few items exclusive to that store and not available in Australia.
While in the area, I thought it would be a good time to just quickly cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. It is a remarkable structure over a body of water that means so much to Maryland. I just had to show it off.
The Chesapeake Bay Bridge is a major dual-span bridge in the U.S. state of Maryland. Spanning the Chesapeake Bay, it connects the state’s rural Eastern Shore region with the urban Western Shore. The original span opened in 1952 and at the time, with a length of 4.3 miles (7 km), was the world’s longest continuous over-water steel structure. A parallel span was added in 1973 giving rise to the bridge’s current dual-span nature.
