What’s a Camel Soak? A place where people take their camels for a drink of course!
This granite catchment, also known as The Rock Hole was sunk as a watering point for men and their camel teams working on the No 2 Rabbit Proof Fence from 1903 to 1905.
Now normally I don’t go miles out of my way to see where camels used to drink, but the brochure said there would be wildflowers, specifically orchids!
It wasn’t very high to climb but even so when we got to the top it was WINDY, which you can see in the water.
Rock arrangements at the top.
We didn’t see a LOT of wildflowers, but seeing flowers growing out of a rock is just another way Western Australia does flowers.
The other flowers we saw had a wonderful vanilla like aroma.
We did actually see one orchid 🙂
A wedged-tailed eagle took us by surprise! It wasn’t going to be the only eagle we saw this day!
The camels didn’t have a bad view. It was miles out of our way but I am glad we went.
