This year, we decided to go South of the river and meet up with The Olsens. For our photos this year, we thought it might be interesting to have the City of Perth to look at with the fireworks.
First know, in spite of the lovely clouds, it was HOT.
The clouds were all sorts, and enhanced the Perth Skyline.
Did I mention it was HOT? John decides clothes and all to wade in the river.
There were many things in the sky to see…
…all types of planes…
…birds…
Even a snake bird in the water. (Australian darter, as other darters, is also named “snake-bird”, due to its long, thin neck, giving it a snake-like appearance when swimming into water with submerged body. )
Channel 7 was also represented in the sky.
We were there before the Olsens, but when they arrived Pauline was sure to put a very Aussie hat on me. She also suggested that we take a walk, as we had been there keeping the spot for awhile.
So we took a walk around the celebration zone, we saw butterflies…
This was rather cute, they were kicking a ball around with this obvious handicap of being inside a plastic ball. When they fell, they rolled.
Naturally we wished we had Silas and Rubí with us!
Back to the river. Did I mention it was HOT?
Back to the river, there was more to see. I am proud of my flag, but the Aussie flag also pulls at my heart.
Planes doing stunts.
The flag, this time by boat.
There was an array of water skiers, this one was the largest.
Perhaps this one most impressive. 🙂
They always have this plane dropping a water bomb into the river.
The Olsens take a selfie with their phone as John grabs his fisheye to do the same.
The fisheye works great!
At last it was time for the fireworks.
I photographed so many, I decided to put it on a quick little slide show!
Children after my own heart, getting the best seat in the house, right in the river.
What a lovely pictorial recount Barbara. You have some real beauties there. So pleased that we could share Australia Day with you and John. One year we may actually get an Australia Day with a reasonable temperature!
