Annapolis Naval Academy

Last year Lisa took us on a tour of the Naval Academy, and this year, after watching the rain pour down, we took a chance to repeat our tour for Synara.

When the rain cleared, it became a steam bath in Annapolis with the heat and humidity typical of a Maryland summer.

This year we went to the Naval Academy museum, which was a sweet surprise, showing us one of the world’s finest collections of warship models from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Each of these priceless models was constructed within a few years of the ship or ship type it represents.

Sovereign of the Seas, one example of hundreds we got to see on our tour.

Going upstairs in Mahan Hall to see an exhibit of the War of 1812

Synara fancied this Carved British Lion, a notable trophy from the War of 1812, captured during the occupation of York.

The statue of Tecumseh. If you can throw a coin in its quiver, seen here, you have good luck.

So many places for the eyes to go inside the Chapel.

The Chapel, while adorned with verses from the Bible having to do with water in its stained glass windows, serves many religions.

Still at the Hall, Alejandra spots the lovely tennis courts below.

Three lovely ladies pose at the hall.

Our day ended at the docks of Annapolis, having great conversation, watching the boats go by, osprey catch fish, and feeling the breeze on a hot day.
