After the Orchid Hunting

journeyAfter hunting for orchids on Johnston Road, it was time to go home.

In spring, our weekends are a lot about Orchid hunting, and it often means we have a long way to go to find them. But you know what? Sometimes we don’t make it all the way that we are going. Or, we get there, but it’s often later than we intended. We have fun when we get there, but getting there can be fun too.

On this afternoon, at this point of the day the destination was home.

The sun was getting ready to go down, so we stopped into Preston Beach for a while.

Preston Beach is a gorgeous beach just over an hour away from Perth. You can see the tires in the background, that's because part of the beach is open to 4WD. I haven't seen a car on the beach since I went with my parents to Daytona!

The part of the beach we were on, we didn't see a soul.

The sky was changing color and I liked how the waves looked.

In spite of a big, dark cloud, the water was lit and sparkling.

The sky showed off some orange rays.

The sky showed off some orange rays and again, the water is still lit.

We got a little chilly and the sky looked like it wasn't going to do much more so we took off back for home, but had to stop again.

We got a little chilly and the sky looked like it wasn’t going to do much more so we took off back for home, but had to stop again. Here you can see why. The sky suddenly got a little more dramatic.

How sweet of the birds to fly across...

So sunsets, birds, a dilapidated barn, and yes, even a butterfly, my husband will step on the brake and either myself or both of us will investigate. Our love our journey and it’s best when we are together!
