We live down the road from a house that has two horses and some smaller horses. Often the smaller horses are away from the road but the two horses they own can come close to the road. When they see us, usually they stop what they are doing and come over and are friendly to us as we walk by.
This day it was important to Silas and Rubà to pet them.
Silas got his wish as even though they were having lunch they trotted over for some company.
Rubà was a little more shy and hung on close to me.
We had some play time at the nearby park, and even though we were playing hummingbirds, flamingos, monkeys, and lets pretend I am an egg…one of the main subjects was the horses and seeing them again when we returned home.
On our way back each child became braver and fed the horses some grass. Rubà was so overcome with herself for getting past her fear she couldn’t wait to go home and tell mommy…
….and pester mommy to no end to take them back this very minute to see them feed the horses.
Of course, as happens, it wasn’t a very good time to go back out in the heat with a baby and do this very thing…
So, we went back another day.
This time Mommy got to help feed them.
Rubà got to show off that she knows how to stretch out her hand and feed them.
As it was even hotter than the day before, the children didn’t even need convincing that a dip in the pool would be nice. After a swim, Silas rested on Daddy’s Beach towel from Australia.
Rubà was content with the dolphin towel, and this being her first time in Yaya’s pool for the summer.
And me, I am just happy to get to share it with them, and know they love their Nana and they get to know how much their Nana loves them!
