A Different Easter
We knew it was going to be a different kind of Easter. With Mom gone, the center of all holidays, we would have to cope with missing her and making new memories. Even though in some past Easters I have been in Australia, the internet and phone calls didn’t make her seem so far away as she is now.
So what to do.
With my nieces and boys off to Florida, we were really on our own as to what to do. We received a lot of ham in our home from the many souls wishing to help take care of us during the days before, during, and after Mom’s death. So while we were brainstorming ideas, I asked to not have ham. We all put in ideas, I thought Rubí’s suggestion of pizza, and Silas’s idea for corn were extra cute.
We ended up planning for a favorite around here, Fideus, but no one wanted me to cook on Easter Sunday. So, I prepared fideus on Saturday. So the big plan was 1. Church, 2. Panera Bread, thanks to a gift card to the family, 3. A walk in the park, 4. Come home and eat where hopefully Miquel could join us.
Then we went home to eat delicious Fideus.
It was a different Easter. So happy to be absolutely surrounded by LOVE, so sad Mom isn’t here to be with us. But as someone told me at church, “She’s having the best Easter ever!”
